On the eve of the Melbourne Cup, the NSW Government has begun a campaign to attract Australia’s biggest spending sporting fans to Sydney.

The campaign will highlight the five day ‘superweek’ of non-stop sports action between 2-6 December which will bring some of the world’s great stars of boxing, golf and V8 Supercar racing to Sydney, attracting up to 320,000 spectators.

As part of the ‘Superweek’ Ultimate Boys Sydney Adventure campaign, print advertisements will appear in Melbourne’s biggest daily newspaper – Herald Sun – during Melbourne Cup week, one of Victoria’s biggest tourism events.

Up to 30,000 overseas and interstate visitors are expected to visit Sydney during ‘superweek’, injecting around $35 million into the NSW economy.

Sydney will host the biggest fight ever held in Australia, with Danny Green and the legendary Roy Jones Jr set to battle it out for the International Boxing Organisation World Cruiserweight Title.

The battle of boxing champions will kick off the ultimate superweek of events.

Sydneysiders and visitors can follow Greg Norman at the Australian Open, watch the V8’s roar around the new Homebush street circuit, or take in performances by Cold Chisel, Fleetwood Mac, Green Day, The Living End, Sneaky Sound System and the Homebake music festival.

These events are a great opportunity for sports fans to get their friends together and enjoy a spectacular sporting superweek in Sydney.
